The article says, "When an Original Slash universe is opened up to other writers, some authors call it Friendfiction which is analogous to the shared universe concept. [3] (needs better references)". The reference given is to a post by me.

I think this was actually the post that the creator of the link was referring to; it occurs in the same thread. As I noted in a follow-up note to the creator of the link, the term friendfiction was coined at orig_slavefic. It is mentioned in orig_slavefic's community guidelines. It may be used by a few folks who have encountered the term there, but I think it would be going too far to say that it's a fandom term at this point.
