Talk:Not Quite Dead
Re: the edit note. If "Not Quite Dead" isn't a fannish term, why not rename the page to "My Partner's Dead, Just Kidding!"? I haven't heard the phrase before, but it's showing up in Google results, so someone out there is using it.--Aethel 00:19, 20 January 2009 (UTC)
- Or, she says, replying to herself, rename this page Presumed Dead, which does sound familiar to me, and have a separate page to explain what MPDJK is and who uses it.--Aethel 00:24, 20 January 2009 (UTC)
- I have seen MPDJK mostly in slash fandom (which I guess makes sense because it implies a relationship). For simplicity when I use it as tag in delicious I put in on all stories with a "character thought dead, but not" plot, because I hadn't seen these other terms used and it didn't occur to me to pick a more generic label, but I like that the entry title for this plot is less specific so that all kinds of not-dead stories can fit.--Ratcreature 05:08, 20 January 2009 (UTC)
- I almost did call it MPDJK except that I've only seen that in a limited number of fan circles and it's obscure to others, and as Ratcreature said it's limited to only partners. And while I call such stories Presumed Dead I wasn't aware anyone else did - but if it sounds familiar to you, then I'll change it to that! --Xparrot 05:59, 20 January 2009 (UTC)
