I moved the page here from Famous Detective Conan, which is a direct translation of the Japanese title. The page should either be under the Japanese title or the English title. --Kyuuketsukirui 18:57, 10 October 2008 (UTC)

The safest bet would be the original title -- Famous Detective Conan. This is what everyone will know how to search for, regardless of the resp. localized title. In Germany, for example, the series is known as Detektiv Conan, and I wouldn't know about French or so titles. Case Closed sounds like...I don't know, like a Phoenix Wright novelization to me? ;D --lian 19:59, 10 October 2008 (UTC)

The original title is Meitantei Conan. A direct translation could be Detective Conan, Famous Detective Conan, Great Detective Conan. All of those are equally valid translations of meitantei. In cases where the title of something is not in English, surely the page title should be either the title of the original version or the official English title. Setting a precedent for going with a direct translation gets into murky territory because there is rarely just one way to translate a title. I'm not attached to Case Closed; it was simply already created, and an official title is better choice than a non-official title. Doh! Okay, and a doh from me, too. I was halfway through combining the text of the two entries when I happened to notice that the Japanese manga does say Detective Conan in small text. I never noticed. *headdesk* So since that is the official English name in Japan, why don't we go with Detective Conan for the page name and make a redirect from Meitantei Conan and Famous Detective Conan to Detective Conan. *sigh* I have a feeling this sort of thing is going to be cropping up a lot with anime fandoms... --Kyuuketsukirui 12:35, 11 October 2008 (UTC)
