Kraith pages at simegen.com are gone?

I knew they were about to take Shirley Maiewski's The Mind-Sifter down because Phase 2 is finishing production on their version of it. but now they seem to have taken down nearly the entire site. The whole "fandom" directory is missing. I will update any links I find on fanlore to the archive.org editions. --KTJ (talk) 20:28, 6 July 2013 (UTC)

It must have been a glitch as everything is back in place now. --KTJ (talk) 20:36, 27 January 2015 (UTC)

Darkover as "Star Trek for grownups", supposed Lichtenberg quote

I would love to get my hands on anything that confirmed Lichtenberg actually said this about Darkover. Zimmer-Bradley never referenced the quote. --KTJ (talk) 20:36, 27 January 2015 (UTC)

I'd like to know, too. I'll keep my eye open. --MPH (talk) 20:43, 27 January 2015 (UTC)
It's apparently in the foreword to The Keeper's Price. MZB doesn't say where the quote came from specifically, but she does mention it. --MPH (talk) 21:40, 27 January 2015 (UTC)

How is the word "Kraith" pronounced?

Or more to the point, how does Jacqueline Lichtenberg pronounce it? Not even the Kraith Dictionary gives that information! Like any foreign word, its pronunciation is probably difficult/impossible to render exactly in English orthography, but surely an approximation is possible, so that I don't have to keep referring to it as "However it's pronounced." I assume the Kr is pronounced something like in English, but is the "ai" two separate vowels or a diphthong (and how is it / are they pronounced), and is the "th" voiced (as in "feather") or unvoiced (as in "thing")? Thanks! --Carol Pruitt (talk) 03:42, 7 April 2021 (UTC)

I never knew, so I pronounced it as kreθ. ai as in "aid" and th as in "thing". When I said this at conventions, the people I was talking to knew what I meant. Lichtenberg says she pretty much lives online, there's got to be a way to contact her to ask. --KTJ (talk) 01:18, 8 April 2021 (UTC)
Thanks, KTJ. That's how I used to say it, and how I assume most English speakers (possibly including JL?) would say it -- but in most other languages (possibly including Vulcan?) "ai" is pronounced like the English word "eye." Thanks for your suggestion -- I found her email address at the bottom of the page on her site simegen.com and have queried her. If she replies, I'll post the info here. --Carol Pruitt (talk) 03:05, 8 April 2021 (UTC)
I got a response from Jean Lorrah, who confirms our guess by saying (quote) Kraith rhymes with "wraith."
I have added this basic info to the first sentence of the article, but it should presumably have a citation. Could someone who knows how to make footnotes please add one, giving the source as "Email from Jean Lorrah, dated 8 April 2021" -- thank you! --Carol Pruitt (talk) 20:37, 8 April 2021 (UTC)
Done. --Greer Watson (talk) 22:36, 8 April 2021 (UTC)
