I'm really not sure about theJ/D, B/D, and J/B redirects to specific pairings. It seems awful. . . limiting. With all the fandoms and pairings in the world, only Jack/Daniel are known as "J/D"? --Anenko 13:34, 10 October 2009 (UTC)

With all the fandoms and pairings in the world, only Jack/Daniel are known as "J/D"? As far as I know, yes. They are the only pairing I have ever seen referred to like that. Do you have examples of other pairings being referred to as J/D in conversations across different fandoms? I'm sure there are other pairings that can be abbreviated as K/S or S/H but my impression is that the practice of referring to media fandom pairings this way comes from a time when there were not so many pairings that you coud get confused about what was meant. I would say J/D is one of the last pairings that enjoyed this classic slash naming convention.--Doro 13:53, 10 October 2009 (UTC)
No, I don't have any examples off the top of my head. This is just my personal feeling; it seems so absolute to have Whoever/Whoever as THE W/W pairing. But hey, I'm not waving a flag for "Janet/Daniel" or anything, so I don't have a stake in this. If no one else feels the same way, that's fine. --Anenko 15:37, 10 October 2009 (UTC)
googling for "J/D" and slash brings only stargate in the first three pages of results, but if you search for J/D together with fanfic pairing, without specifying slash, you get that that is used for "Josh/Donna" in Westwing and wookiepedia says it stands for Jacen/Danni in Star Wars (I think that is a new jedi pairing or something from the novels?) among the very first results.--Ratcreature 17:54, 10 October 2009 (UTC)
Thanks for the input! I thought that I'd made a horrible mistake, and was being stupid for even questioning the J/D, B/D, and J/B redirects. --Anenko 21:13, 10 October 2009 (UTC)
I suspect that the only code that is is widely recognized even outside the own fandom or slash fandom might be K/S for Kirk/Spock, though I haven't actually gathered any data to support that. But on the top of my head I know that some actually use B/D to mean Bondage/Discipline in header codes, which I've seen in several fanfic glossaries and archives, rather than have it mean "Bodie/Doyle" as obviously that is not a conflict if the fandom is not Pros. Also in HP I've seen that mean Blaise/Draco fairly often, as HP has letter codes in some corners of fandom even with initial overlap, ie. H is always Harry whereas Hr is Hermione, D is almost always Draco not Dean, etc. And while most HP fans seem to favor smooshes like Snarry if they want to shorten I've seen S/H for Snape/Harry "in the wild" as well.--Ratcreature 21:53, 10 October 2009 (UTC)
ETA: also in Twilight fandom J/B for example usually stands for Jacob/Bella.--Ratcreature 21:56, 10 October 2009 (UTC)
