I don't think all flaming constitutes trolling. To me, trolling requires intent to stir up trouble for the sake of stirring up trouble. If you are genuinely passionate about a subject and want the person you're flaming to apologize and agree with you (or leave fandom and die in a fire), I wouldn't call that trolling. (As opposed to if you don't really care about the subject and are just trying to see if you can make someone scream in all caps.)

I've taken a stab at rewriting this to make a distinction between the two, but I'm not wed to any of my changes -- I just want to clearly separate flaming and trolling as concepts.--Penknife 19:28, 6 October 2008 (UTC)
