Talk:Ficbook (Книга Фанфиков)
December 2022 slash ban infodump
I'm not clear on the specifics, but it looks like after an "LGBT propaganda law" was passed, ficbook banned slash and/or planned to move slash to a separate site? and a lot of people deleted their accounts and moved to AO3 and other fic sites? Oct 17, 2022 tweet from ficbooknet saying that false information was circulating and slash and femslash on ficbook was safe. Twitter account does not mention the post-December 5 policy change.
On December 5, 2022, the official telegram account posted an image with the text: Оказывается, когда все дети что-то разрушали, исключительно из интереса и любопытства, он любил собирать это. Единственное, что он действительно разрушил — гетеросексуальные ожидания родителей. (machine trans:It turns out that when all the children destroyed something, purely out of interest and curiosity, he loved to collect it. The only thing he really destroyed was the heterosexual expectations of his parents.)
12 hours later they posted to say that info about a policy change was circulating online, that they would provide an update soon, that nothing would be deleted, that "We do not collect or share your personal data."
On December 6 the telegram account posted their plans for slashbook.--aethel (talk) 18:49, 23 April 2023 (UTC)
- It hasn't banned slash so far, but unnounced the plans for the slash-only website Slashbook, in case the problems with the law arise, I guess. The mass move to the AO3 is caused by multiple reasons, from the suspicions that the Ficbook owner cooperates with the Russian government to, ironically enough, the recent blocking of AO3 in Russia that has further popularized the website as a place that the fans can trust not to give their data to the Russian law officers. - Erimia (talk) 19:20, 23 April 2023 (UTC)
