Talk:Fantastic Beasts
Barebones overview page for the fandom of the new movies. -- Baycitybomber (talk) 12:21, 14 February 2018 (UTC)
Moving info to other pages
I started adding some information to the Ilvermorny/North American Worldbuilding section - and I still want to sift through Tumblr for more fan commentary - but I'm starting to think that most of the information in this section would be better housed elsewhere. This was enough of a controversy/public debate to merit taking the space to fully document it, but I'm not sure if it really fits on a page for the film series. I could see retaining a paragraph on the specific impact this had on the way fans engaged with/received the film series, and including a link to a page on the History of Magic in North America essay series, as well as to a page on Ilvermorny. Any thoughts? - Fandomgeographies (talk) 15:58, 19 March 2018 (UTC)
- I agree with you. The "History of Magic in North America" series was published on Pottermore, a site devoted to canon for the overall Harry Potter franchise, not just the Fantastic Beasts specifically. Thus, the controversy surrounding "History" extends beyond the scope of this article, in my opinion. I agree with your suggestion of retaining a brief overview of the controversy in this article. But the in-depth coverage might be better moved to its own article.
- The controversies over the casting of Depp and the straight-washing of Dumbledore warrant in-depth coverage in this article. Those are obviously directly related to the Fantastic Beasts franchise. But I also think they've represented larger blips on the fandom radar, so to speak. Night Rain (talk) 18:42, 19 March 2018 (UTC)
- Okay! Over the next day or so, I'm going to move relevant information from this page to a page for History of Magic in North America and a page for Ilvemorny. When I'm done, I'll come back and remove the duplicated information from this page, clean everything up, and add some film-specific text with links to the other pages. - Fandomgeographies (talk) 15:16, 21 March 2018 (UTC)
