I found a 2019 article on CP marketing in dangai dramas: 从“捆绑”到“解绑”，解读“耽改剧”的CP营销套路 (From "bundling" to "unbundling", interpreting the CP marketing routine of "Dangai Drama"), Archived version, new.qq.com, 26 August 2019. This topic would be relevant to Fanlore because it has a strong influence on RPF shipping. From these two articles, I get the impression "CP" has become a marketing term in China and at least from the industry's POV, just means that two actors are scheduled to do promo together.
