Talk:Charles Xavier/Erik Lehnsherr

I was going to make a stub, and then I wondered how to structure it. My first thought was to have a single page with sections for comicsverse, movieverse & x-men first class, and then sections for fic, resources, meta, etc. Because I think there's a lot of overlap; writers who write in all three canons, a lot of movieverse stories that use comics canon, etc. But I'm not deep into the pairing so maybe fans more invested would prefer two or three separate pages? Anyone got an opinion? It might depend on how big First Class gets, I guess; it's not previously been a huge pairing but the kink meme is going pretty strong. a lot. --MegR 19:35, 15 June 2011 (UTC)

We could start out with one page for all versions and if one section gets really big, it could move to its own page. :) --Doro 20:27, 15 June 2011 (UTC)
Yeah, you're probably right. I'll just stub it out for now. --MegR 06:48, 16 June 2011 (UTC)
Perhaps one umbrella page with subsections for depictions (fanon and canon) within each medium/work? --Marksthespot 20:04, 1 August 2011

How do you spell Lensherr? The IMDB page for XMFC uses both spellings, the Wikipedia:Magneto (comics) uses both spellings, and in the comics it's an alias, not the characters' name, it would appear. For the XMFC page, it should likely correspond to the film credits spelling, but I've got no idea what that is. Anybody done the research on this already?--facetofcathy 18:13, 1 August 2011 (UTC) ETA: The AO3 seems to have gone with Lehnsherr as canonical with Lensherr wrangled to it for both character and relationship tags.

Huh. I have no idea how the film spells it. I just thought it would be spelled like the German word "Lehnsherr" (liege, liege lord). It never occured to me that it might be a word without meaning. :/ --Doro 18:48, 1 August 2011 (UTC)
I think it's likely that Lehnsherr is the most common usage. It's what's on the (really annoying) 20th Century Fox official page for XMFC, but both spellings have appeared in the comics. I'm going to go with the Lehnsherr spelling for the XMFC page since I can't find the closing credits online. I would suggest, now that I've looked around at the various usages, that for any multiverse pages like this one, that we do what the AO3 has done and go with Lehnsherr and redirect Lensherr to it.--facetofcathy 19:06, 1 August 2011 (UTC)
I agree. Also, am wondering if it should be Erik Lehnsherr/Charles Xavier - do we usually do pairing name alphabetically or does it not matter? I don't *think* the fandom has a strong preference, but I feel like I've seen Erik/Charles more often. --MegR 19:22, 1 August 2011 (UTC)
For what it's worth, I've seen Erik/Charles more often too, at least for XMFC. Maybe it's different for fic based on the versions of the characters played Patrick Stewart and Ian McKellen? --Doro 20:17, 1 August 2011 (UTC)
