Annotated Fanworks
I've only come across this template for "annotated fanworks" recently, and while they give great detail to the videos here they do seem to make the page rather long. I don't want to change them up a lot them since they are informative of the video, but I'm also a little uncertain that pasting the entire Youtube video's description into the works' note section is more useful than just clicking the video links and reading the descriptions there. What I mean is, wouldn't it be more useful to use that note section to describe details specific to the work, like how many animators are involved, how long it took them to make the work, where they advertised for participants, etc, instead of just the video's entire description? The first one (Closer) that lists the participants is nice though. Patchlamb (talk) 20:16, 28 May 2020 (UTC)
- I've edited the article to acknowledged the way AMV is used on YT (that is to say how it isn't only used for MAPs). This has opened it up to different kinds of AMVs, instead of just the 3 MAPs made for Warrior Cats that were there. That said, in my effort to put lots of examples for the other kinds of AMVs the page is now not very consistent in format. I like the way the annotated fanworks boxes allow for an easy way to list animators for these MAPs, and I also hate removing a large chunk of something without feedback first. But still I also dislike having the inconsistent format. If anyone has any objections to removing the annotated fanworks and replacing them with simple links let me know, maybe we can figure out a different way to format. Heck, MAPs may need their own page... Patchlamb (talk) 17:44, 23 June 2020 (UTC)
MAPs
I unified the format since I didn't get any opposition since I last suggested it. Even so, multiple animator projects and PMVs aren't exactly the same thing as AMVs, are they? An AMV is usually for tv shows, movies, books, etc, but a MAP is a bunch of artists making an animation by hand and stitching it together. Maybe if a single animator makes an animated music video it counts as an AMV, but it seems like a MAP is a different practice altogether. So though I unified the format, MAPs may get their own page later if they don't have one yet (I don't think they do). Patchlamb (talk) 18:43, 30 June 2020 (UTC)
