I took out the bits about these possibly being the first such short stories in fannish circles and that they came before drabbles; Due South fandom was doing drabbles at least as early as July 1997 (according to some saved email), possibly as early as late 1996, and Highlander picked them up from DS around the same time. --Arduinna 05:02, 9 October 2008 (UTC)
- Sure thing. I'm curious, were they called "drabbles" in DS and HL at that time? Also, that info would be good on the drabble page; it doesn't give any kind of date or origin there. --Punk 05:32, 9 October 2008 (UTC)
- Yep! The term actually goes further back -- it's from SF-lit fandom in the 1980s. But I *think* DS was the first fandom to actually start doing them. I had some computer issues tonight that interrupted me, but I'll dig up some references and fill in some background on the drabble page tomorrow. :) --Arduinna 07:29, 9 October 2008 (UTC)
- I've added the origin and early history to the drabble page, as well as some of the information Arduinna mentions here. It definitely needs more citation and completeness in that section. I'll also add a link there, since this is obviously a related trend.--ainsley 07:49, 9 October 2008 (UTC)
