TRPG&博得之门ONLY (TRPG & bódé zhī mén ONLY, meaning TRPG & Baldur's Gate ONLY) is a small to medium scale convention, happening in Beijing and Shanghai, China. The first iteration of the convention happened on the 24th and 25th of February 2024, on the 3rd floor of the 嘻番里 (Xī fān lǐ) building, in Beijing.[1] The building is home to AR, metaverse-like and roleplaying spaces.
Since then, it has also expanded to Shanghai.
The convention was planned due to the success of Baldur's Gate III in China, together with the popularisation of Tabletop Roleplaying Games (TRPG). The convention is under Golden Age Expo organisation.
Convention Days
First Beijing Con
The first day of the Beijing convention is dedicated to TRPGs while the second day is focused solely on the world of Baldur's Gate, specifically Baldur's Gate III.[1]
During the 24th of February 2024, the event welcomed newcomers into the word of TRPG with the help of experienced players. The focus was mainly on women's groups, providing a 3 to 5 hour long learning experience, from character sheet creation to learning how to start a campaign as a DM. The event advised participants to bring a pen and paper.
Different guest DMs were invited, and hosted different styles of games, from different editions of Dungeons and Dragons' games to Magical Kitties Save the Day.
During the 25th, besides being able to visit other fans' stands, fans were be able to participate in various roleplaying activities, these include:
- Solving on-site tasks (puzzles) that earn them gold coins;
- Go to the Harpers Bank and complete skill tasks (such as charm or persuasion skills) to also earn gold coins;
- Go to a tavern, where game videos and fanvids will be shown, and use their earned gold to purchase special drinks;
- Divination services: Going from "camp" to "camp" in order to gain a "camp" dice;
- Participate in tavern duels or bet on them in order to also gain more coins.
During these events, various Baldur's Gate III cosplayers appeared, roleplaying and interacting with guest fans.
First Shanghai Con
During the Shanghai Con, the same theme of Day 2 Beijing Con was expanded upon. There were professional Cosplayer welcoming and LARPing with the con-goers.
