Star Vow is a Kirk/Spock story by Charmen Tramen.

It was published in the print zine First Time #19.

Summary

"After V'Ger, Kirk demands to know Spock's reason for leaving him at the end of the five-year mission."

Reactions and Reviews

Taking place after Gol when Kirk and Spock are back together on the Enterprise. Kirk asks Spock why he left and so Spock mind-melds with himl telling him he never wanted to hurt him. They profess their love and in a neat idea, Spock wants courtship for a while. Of course. Kirk goes crazy waiting to consummate— that lusty captain, he.

Finally they are alone on a shuttle. I adored the vivid description of the cargo bay that had been redecorated into a sultan Vulcan lair.

They make love beneath a skylight on the ceiling (or whatever it's called on a spacecraft) and what a dynamite scene! They say lots of wonderfully sexy things to each other like Taste me. Spock. Drink...." and 'I need thee, beloved. Wilt thou submit?" and The stars will witness how I love you." And my favorite: I'm a virgin for you. Spock." I will always remember that line! I will always want to have written it.

At the conclusion Kirk is eager for a marriage bond and Spock has to tell him to wait. Not again! [1]

This is a nice little piece about what happens during the shakedown cruise after V-ger. If you like stories linked to TMP, you'll find this fills in a gap or two. Both Kirk and Spock find themselves uncertain how to express their feelings concerning the time they were apart, mutually agreeing a meld is the answer. One paragraph from the story, from Spock's POV during the revealing meld brings to my mind the scene of Spock standing on Gol at the beginning of the movie, bewildered, lost, alone:

//No,// Spock said defiantly. //V'ger disturbed me only in the final moments. All the rest...all the rest of my days and nights at Gol, were filled with you. I heard your whisper in the sand at my feet, saw the stars reflected in your eyes, heard the wind scream your name to me...and in my dreams, Jim...// Spock's mind voice dropped to a level Kirk had never experienced before. His thoughts were felt inside Kirk's chest, beating with his heart. //...in dreams you were my T'hy'la.//

With this kind of knowledge, the rest is inevitable, but none the less rewarding to read. They come together with all the love each has held back for so long. [2]
