Reactions and Reviews
[Stand-in, reviewed by Aralias]: Firstly - I like that Avon is really pleased with his son's gift. That's adorable. Nice piece of characterisation.Secondly - I really like that Vila saves the day through cleverness, and I like the different way he reacts to the link to the others (when will Tarrant ever leave? Will he leave? I can't help but feel Cally was the right choice from the beginning).
I like the stuff around the edges of the plot with Blake negotiating with a matriarchal society (particularly the bit where the eldest woman on the council looks at him maternally - bless).
Interesting how, even in this fic where everyone really likes everyone, everyone still kind of thinks Tarrant's a tool. We have lots of descriptions of how much Avon really cares for Blake, and then the narrative will say 'he and Tarrant would never really be friends, and he didn't really like the cocky pilot, but they could work together'. And I'm like.. that's sad. Tarrant's not that bad.[2]
