Sportsgore or "sports gore" is a term coined by shookyfan on Twitter and AO3 to describe "the athlete-brain condition of knowing your worth is your body and that your time is limited, and weighing both physical and psychological wounds against the ticking clock. add a hypothetical event horizon where, even if you still have time, you could do something irreversible to yourself and so everything is trying to get as close to that line without crossing. all it in the pursuit of perfection, of course. now add fans and anyone else you might be "doing it for" and try and make it all balance."
This definition was first used in the author's note to their BTS fic i still have a d-d-dream and has since been picked up and used by others on social media.
