spn_bigpretzel was a LiveJournal community in Supernatural fandom, that was focused on upbeat, light-hearted fanworks. They would run periodic events, challenges and gift exchanges. The community closed in 2022 because of lack of engagement in the community and on LiveJournal in general.

Closing Announcement

This was a post I hoped that I’d never make, although in reality I knew I would one day!

spn_bigpretzel has been running over 10 years. It’s seen the glory days of Supernatural and of Livejournal and has been a source of fun and sunshine within the Supernatural fandom throughout all that time.

I’ve often referred to spn_bigpretzel as being my spiritual home at Livejournal and being a mod and latterly owner of spn_bigpretzel has been one of the greatest privileges of my life.

Earlier this year, I and my fellow mods took a break. We were aware that participation had been dwindling for some time and we felt that the community was getting tired, so we decided to take some time away and then regroup with some new ideas which we hoped would energise things around here.

However, the lack of engagement with our recent challenge has only confirmed to us what we suspected already; things were always going to change after Supernatural ended, and participation overall across Livejournal has dropped off a cliff, so we have to accept the fact that spn_bigpretzel has finally run its course and reached the end of the road.

So this is me, switching the lights off here at spn_bigpretzel.

The community will remain open and you are welcome to post here should you wish but we will no longer moderate the community or run any events.

I hope you can look back with fondness at the fun times and wonderful creativity we’ve shared here at spn_bigpretzel and drop in occasionally to look back at some of your favourite posts.

In the meantime, I'd just like to pass on my appreciation for all for your support over the years. I’m sure the friendships that we’ve shared here will live on beyond this community.

I'd also like to say a huge thank you to my co-mods theymp and candygramme who have helped me keep things running around here over the last few months and of course, a special mention to jj1564 who was a shining light at spn_bigpretzel and Livejournal fandom in general right up until her passing last year..

So, all good things must come to an end. It’s always sad to say goodbye to something we love but as a wise man once said (or sang), don’t you cry no more!!
