Reactions and Reviews

In my opinion, one the best stories in the zine is Spiral Dance. I thoroughly enjoyed it, and loved how the author showed us that command is an integral part of Kirk's personality. Without his ship he has severed the best part of himself -- a fact which Spock recognizes immediately. I love their acts of self-sacrifice, one for the other, showing the dynamics of the K/S relationship in action, while also giving us an excellent explanation for the breakup at the end of the five year mission. My only quibble is that it could have been more intense -- but that's just my own personal preference. I'm glad Ms. Nina decided to submit her work, even with the unhappy ending. Within the context of the episodes-movie timeline, it's expected and perfectly acceptable in any case... [1]

Colorfully written, although dramatics felt somewhat overdone at times.

Kirk is very distressed over taking a ground posting. Nogura's making him take the position because of his relationship with Spock! Spock thinks he has to leave, go to Gol, so Kirk can get his command back.

It wasn't totally clear how the bond got broken. Because Kirk cut Spock off about the truth? Spock was found unconscious in Nogura's office, having found out the truth of why Kirk is grounded. He must now be healed on Gol.

The sex had a really nice feeling but was a little recitative.

Excellent premise in its parallel to STTMP: Spock will return to Kirk after he is healed. The unhappy ending is ok because we know they will come back together. [2]
