Yes, but I don't know why [fanfiction is dominated by women]. It could be that the energy of devising alternate plotlines and new characters is channeled into RPGing by male fans more than it is into writing, since roleplaying and fanfiction have a great deal fundamentally in common in terms of the basic work involved, and that it broke down that way in that gaming started out as more a young male fan ghetto, and fanfiction has a lot of roots in email correspondence which is equally popular among women, but that's just a guess.
