  • 'Till Death Do Us Part by Lisa Paul ("Chip Morton has met the woman of his dreams and plans to marry her. Lee's met the woman nightmares are made of, and can't get away from her.")
  • Shore Leave by S. Hadow

Reactions and Reviews: Issue 1

New London: Crane is at Submarine Command School but finds himself in a life or death struggle. Tense drama.

The Ordeal: Crane has just faced the biggest ordeal of his life. Very enjoyable short story. I won't expound here or it will spoil it for you.

Boys Will Be Boys: Lee has to get the Admiral out of jail! Very amusing.

The Value of Friendship: Crane is blackmailed into sacrificing his greatest possession, himself, in this gripping drama. Not for the squeamish.

A Matter of Trust: A will is read. Almost Kleenex time!

Just a Loan: Crane is told he's needed as a stopgap measure. Different side of life.

A Few Moments of Your time: Something is on Sharkey's mind. A nice little diversion.

Till Death Do Us Part: Crane is increasingly plagued by anonymous 'gifts' which evolve into his being ruthlessly stalked. Pass the popcorn! This is a Very suspenseful, dramatic, terrifying mystery!

Shoreleave: Crane is 'persuaded' to take a bit of shoreleave which becomes anything but! Popcorn time! Great and inventive story! [1]

Issue 2

Silent Running 2 is undated and contains 118 pages.

  • Crustacean Petard by Angela Field ("After an exploratory mission in the diving bell, a mutant life form is unknowingly brought aboard the Seaview. They enjoy life on a submarine, but haven't yet learned not to eat their new home.")
  • No Longer a Loan by Meg Turner
  • Sarcophagus by Hannah J. Phillips
  • Suffer the Consequences by E. Taylor-Johnson ("Returning from a boring cruise, Lieutenant-Commander Chip Morton is shocked to be told the news that Harriman Nelson is dead...and that Lee Crane is being held under investigation for his murder. Confronting his best friend, expecting a denial, he is instead met with silence.")
  • All in a Day's Work by E. Taylor-Johnson
  • The Bet by Wendy Karmell
  • Fresh Faces by Laura Bradley ("Unable to escape their Island research station, two scientists face certain death from an approaching tsunami. On her mission of mercy to rescue them, Seaview is trapped by the monster wave.")
  • Shanghaied by Amanda Casey. A UFO/Voyage crossover. ("What was a simple offer to help a friend do his movie by being an undercover technical advisor turns into a lot more at the Harlington-Straker Studios for Lee Crane. Soon, he and his crew are involved in a UFO incident.")

Reactions and Reviews: Issue 2

The Crustacean Petard: Exciting and sometimes humorous story about 'fossils' that aren't what they appear to be. Different.

No Longer a Loan: Crane's discharge from active duty isn't final, is it? Sequel to "Just a loan" in the previous issue.

Sarcophagus: Gritty and intriguing story about the Mummy's past and why he now walks aboard Seaview. Could have used this in the episode!

Suffer the Consequences: Nelson is missing. Crane killed him. Eyewitnessed. Popcorn time, gripper of a tale.

All in a Day's Work: Kowalski tries to help his shipmates shore up a ruptured ballast tank, but the timber snaps. Good story!

The Bet: Lee is 'persuaded' into a bet made by Nelson with his admiral colleagues. This is a GREAT story! Get out the popcorn! Exciting, humorous, dramatic and you won't be able to put it down!

Fresh Faces: A tidal wave is on the way. Seaview rushes to save some scientists at their outpost in its path. Human nature at the fore in this story.

Shanghaied: Crane is a technical advisor for a B movie. But the producers are more than than they claim to be. Different.[2]

Issue 3

Silent Running 3 is undated and contains 135 pages.

cover of issue #3
  • FYI by Meg Turner
  • Return from Darkness by Beth Kaufman
  • Blood Relation by Carol Foss (a revised version is in Seaview Stories)
  • Unexpected News by Gerri Rogers
  • Fishing Expedition by Margie Harding
  • Nightmare by Wendy Karmell
  • Teething Troubles by Sue James

Reactions and Reviews: Issue 3==

FYI: A letter home from Lee. A glimpse into Lee's reaction to his new assignment.

Return from Darkness: Nelson is presumed dead after rebels in a far off country gun him down on screen, but he is really a prisoner of war. Dramatic, gutsy, & gripping tale.

Blood Relation: A 500 year old pirate found in an icefloe's trapped galleon thaws back to life, the identical 'twin' of Crane, in appearance only, that is. Well, I'd like to comment, but since I wrote it, I shouldn't incriminate myself.

Unexpected News: Chief Sharkey is troubled by some news from home. Nice little respite from the ordinary story.

Fishing Expedition: Delightful and gripping story with drama and intrigue, mixed in with comedy. While Crane is on loan to British Intelligence, he learns of Nelson's 'demise' and has to get a living 'ghost' out of harm's way. This is a popcorn munching, 'glued to it' story.

Nightmare: Gripping tale of revenge as Lee is haunted by horrible nightmares that make little sense to him. Gripper of a tale. Not for the squeamish.

Teething Troubles: Chip's reunion with Crane is not what he expects. Should have been an episode! [3]
