Silence Is the Speech of Love is an Enjolras/Grantaire fanfiction by lady_ragnell. It was written as a gift for samyazaz.

Author's Summary
Grantaire's life has a pattern: he pays his respects to Aphrodite, he goes to work, he loves Enjolras and provokes him because he can't bring himself to do otherwise. That seems unlikely to change, at least until Enjolras speaks out against the gods and ends up cursed. Grantaire does his best to help him, but it turns out it's just as hard to love Enjolras up close as it is from afar.

W O R L D B U I L D I N G. I love love loved getting to worldbuild in this universe and I think it paid off to make a fully realized world that the characters could live in. Also, I made some damn good pining happen in this one. This fic is My Baby.[1]

THE WORLDBUILDING!!! Okay, so, this is a world where worship of the Greek pantheon is the dominant religion in France (although monotheism still exists). Enjolras gets cursed by Zeus for pissing him off (because of course he does) and the fic has such really excellent characters and plot and did I mentioned worldbuilding? It delves deeply into curses and blessings and making choices with what you're given (Marius and Cosette are struck to the bone in a moment of breathless delight... by Cupid's arrow) and it's all really excellent. Great characterization and AMAZING worldbuilding. [2]
Enjolras is cursed by a god to have his voice physically hurt people. It’s kind of Grantaire’s fault. Life goes on. THIS WORLDBUILDING JFC. One where the ancient Greek gods are still worshipped in the modern day and still very real. Amazing amazing amazing. Also, it’s a magical disability fic that actually works really, really well.[3]
This is the first fic that came to mind with this theme. It's just got so much about it that I love: 50k of beautiful worldbuilding; characters working for better access and accommodations for a cursed friend; friends(?) to lovers; Eponine's everything; polytheism for the modern era; the Greek gods being themselves (capricious assholes)[4]
