Shrift is a Qui-Gon/Obi-Wan story by The Emu.
Summary: You-know-what didn't happen in TPM. Years later, Obi-Wan returns to Coruscant and unfinished business. It's not all Light at the Jedi Temple.
Recs and Reviews
I liked this fic because it explored a few themes rarely touched on by other writers in the fandom. Here, Anakin is Qui-Gon's padawan, with a crush on his master that glows in the dark, and there is considerable tension between Obi-Wan and Qui-Gon, who are almost strangers to each other. The Emu has written some terrific dialogue and interaction between Obi-Wan and Anakin, and I'm a sucker for the ending of this one.[1]
In the years after Qui-gon didn't die, Obi-wan's become quite the Jedi; now it's time for him to face a real battle: Qui-gon's affection for Anni. What a wonderful beginning this story has -- I can only imagine how much more I would have liked it if the resolution had not been rushed. Shrift by the Emu. (added 10/29 -- thanks to Destina) [2]
"Shrift" and "Chastity" -- by emu. Two great pieces, the first an A/U that has the only Anakin portrayal that I actually enjoyed, simultaneously mature and thoughtful, and the second, a unique study in Jedi Code as might apply to our favorite boyz. (Also stars one of my favorite Qui-Gon types ... SoftHair!Qui. :-) Check 'em out![3]
