Shatnered Weekend was a fan gathering for fans of William Shatner. It was also a fundraiser for one of Shatner's supported charities.

These gatherings began after William Shatner Fan Fellowship and the subsequent William Shatner Fellowship folded, and is therefore a continuation of The William Shatner Fan Fellowship Weekend.

It took place at the Sportsmen's Lodge in Studio City, Los Angeles on August 14-16, 1992.

It had the subtitle" "Friends Reaching Out."

The charity was "Ahead With Horses."

The cost for the weekend was $186.00 not including hotel room fees which was $83 a night.

Are you prepared to be Shatnered for two and a half days? Then get ready because on this weekend in Los Angeles you will suffer the ultimate in Shatner saturation. From Friday evening when we get together for our welcoming cocktail party, through our leave taking Sunday you will experience the ultimate Shatnering so don’t come unless you want to have an unforgettable time.

The Sportsmen’s Lodge in Studio City is our choice for hotels. Those of you who came to the WSF Weekends will remember it well. A gracious and charming hotel with an old world atmosphere you will find the staff extends itself to accommodate its guests.

Friday - Cocktail Party - Host bar, hors d’oeuvres. Auction for "Ahead With Horses" fund raising event for the covered paddocks so desperately needed. Bring lots of cash as the items we have are incredible, including highly prized plaques from Bill’s personal collection. You will not be disappointed and we can put smiles on the faces of some very beautiful children. What a privilege.

Saturday - A.M. Off to the Equestrian Center to talk with Bill and get lots and lots and lots of very exclusive photos.

Sunday - In the evening we will have our very special, and very first WSC Banquet at the Sportsmen’s Lodge Restaurant with Bill and Marcy as our honored guests. This will be a semi-formal affair so ladies come prepared to be beautiful and the men suit with tie, and, of course, we know you will be handsome.

We will have the traditional hi-tea with our dear friend Marcy in the gardens of the Sportsmen’s Lodge, a truly delightful event with a truly delightful lady. You have to experience an afternoon with Marcy to really appreciate her humor, her graciousness, her loving attitude towards everyone.

The hospitality suite will be open from 12:00 noon until 12:00 midnight Sunday for get togethers, viewing of tapes and just plain fun.

It took place at the Sportsmen's Lodge Hotel in Studio City, CA on July 21-23, 1995.

The charity was Shatner's "Hollywood Charity Horse Shoe."

The cost was $315.00, plus registration fee, plus the cost of the hotel.

HERE we go again! Despite a killing schedule Bill has graciously agreed to another weekend. HOWEVER before we go into details one word of warning to the wise. It is always a distinct possibility that Bill will get a last minute call to business and have no choice but to cancel his appointment with us. While it is unlikely, it could happen, and in fact did two years ago. We will notify one and all as soon as possible if there is a cancellation but you must be responsible for your own air tickets if you purchase nonrefundable ones. NOW, on with the good stuff:

We will have our cocktail hour get-together on Friday, followed by the auction. This year the money raised will go to support Bill's special cause, The Hollywood Charity Horse Show, and the charities it supports. We have some wonderful, exciting news to share with you in the next issue about the HCHS. The auction will have incredible pictures, special video tapes and items that just cannot be found anywhere else except at his Weekend. AND, that night will be videos and talk, talk, talk all about you know who.

Saturday morning will be our very special time with Bill. This is when we have the opportunity to ask questions to our hearts [sic] content and to take enough pictures for the local one hour place to retire on and this time you don't have to get up at the crack of dawn to get on a bus to go to the Equestrian Center. Rather, we will be having a Continental breakfast at the Sportsmen Lodge Restaurant patio. This is a truly lovely spot with a delightful little man-made lake filled with ducks and swans. You should be able to get absolutely beautiful pictures.

Saturday evening will be our WSC banquet in the Oak Room of the Sportsmen's Lodge Restaurant. Bill, of course, will be our honored guest. Sunday will be our tea luncheon with one of his daughters. Most probably with Melanie. Last year she made it a point to say she would like to be invited to the next Weekend.

I am sorry but in order to keep the weekend as informal and relaxed as possible, the number of attendees is limited to 60.

For our new visitors you will find the Sportsmen's Lodge a charming and gracious hotel. I am truly sorry I could not pin down a price for the hotel room before publishing this but it would have delayed the NewsZine another week if I waited. The hotel has assured me it will work with us to give us the best possible price. When you make your reservation, be certain you tell the Hotel you are with the William Shatner Convention (they confuse easily).

Please note: One of the reasons Bill gives us the Weekend is that he feels extremely comfortable with everyone, many of whom he knows from prior Weekends or conventions or the Hollywood Charity Horse Show. This is one of the few places he can go to and be completely relaxed and himself. He knows no one is going to intrude into his space. So he is happy and we all have a wonderful time.

THEME: In honor of Bill's HOLLYWOOD CHARITY HORSE SHOE, this entire Weekend will be a Western style dress up affair. This includes the Banquet, the Tea, all events. Feel free to wear Cowboy hats, colorful neckerchiefs, boots, whatever. Just be colorful and comfortable. Native American dress will be equally appropriate.

It took place at the Sportsmen's Lodge Hotel in Studio City, CA in 1996.

There is very, very long, very detailed report (including photos) by a fan in The William Shatner Connection NewsZine v.3 n.4.

...the WSC gives a standing ovation to Adam Malin and Creation Entertainment for their incredible contribution to the success of this year's [The Hollywood Charity Horse Show]. Adam worked with Bill Shatner in developing the opening ceremonies and entertainment including an hilarious skit involving De Kelley, Nichelle Nichols, Spice Williams (Vixes in ST:V) and volunteer aliens, Klingons, Star Fleet officers and only God knows what else. Not too incidentally, Bill Shatner saved Nichelle Nichols from what could have been very serious injury when some horses broke loose and stampeded from the arena directly toward Bill and Nichelle. His quick thinking placed Nichelle behind him, protecting her from flying hooves, as he maneuvered them to safety. Well done, Bill.

Day 5: Tuesday we were off to Paramount where Richard Arnold, a long time friend of the Club, and former assistant to Gene Roddenberry, was kind enough to conduct our tour while regaling us with so many little known stories of the Roddenberry days. We passed a smiling and waiving Patrick Stewart and Rick Berman and then ran into Rene Auberjonoise [sic], in full makeup, who graciously came over to talk with us. Joyce, in the meantime ran into Avery Brooks, also in full costume. We even got a quick peek at the Bridge of "First Contact" which was being filmed but, of course, it was a closed set so no one was allowed in. In all honesty, since Bill is not appearing in that film .... (supply your own finish).

Tuesday night we were off to The Cowboy Palace in Chatsworth for the HCHS Pre-event Press Party and BBQ with Bill. A host of celebrities turned out and everybody had a great time, eating, line-dancing, grabbing pictures, just having a great time. Bill took to the stage and was presented with checks from the Convention and the WSC. The final total from our Club was an absolutely unbelievable $14,000. For once in his life Bill was practically speechless. This small group of less than 40 people had literally given their all to help others. Nor does this represent the total from the club for the year which is well over $15,000. The best part is that EVERY CENT GOES DIRECTLY TO THE CHARITIES. Not one dime is used for administrative purposes.[1]
