Shadow of a Dream is a slash Starsky and Hutch story by CC. Among other things, it is a classic example of a episode tag story.
This story was originally in the zine Venice Place Chronicles #6 and posted online two years later.
Author's summary from the zine: "Confronted with betrayal by fellow detectives, Hutch contemplates his fading idealism. Starsky helps him cope by bringing a dream of his own into the light."

This was such a great story, I was surprised it hadn't been rec'ed before. I love how CC writes the guys, it is so spot on. This is CC's own summary of this story: This story is a missing scene from "Snowstorm", an early season 1 episode. I've always been struck by the disparity in the Hutch we see in the final cabin scene and the Hutch in the tag. What happened to put that beautiful smile on his face? Something much more than a spotted dog, I think. [1]
