Since I'm grammatically impaired, I wouldn't call myself a beta. I have, however, been writing on and off (mostly off) since I was about 8 years old.
I'm sure that having a natural ability plays an important factor, but I also believe that having the educational background to back it up is a definite must. One should also have knowledge of the subject they are betaing.
Asides from The Sentinel (which has taken over my life for the last several years), I've written in: Star Trek (TOS), The Phoenix, Matt Houston, Robin Hood and X-Men.
