The Saxxy Awards were an annual competition run by Valve which honored achievements in 3D animation. Entries had to be produced using Source Filmmaker, a free animation software released by Valve. Most of the winning shorts centered on characters from Team Fortress 2. The last official Saxxy Awards were held in 2017, and Valve has not officially commented on the absence of subsequent awards; in 2021, a community Saxxy Awards was held.
