Sandor Clegane, also known as The Hound, is a fictional character from A Song of Ice and Fire, and is played by Rory McCann on the HBO television series Game of Thrones.
Canon
Clegane is a sworn sword of House Lannister and the protector of the young Prince Joffrey Baratheon. He is the younger brother of Ser Gregor Clegane. He refuses a knighthood but still takes up service as part of the Kingsguard, saying the phrase "I am no Ser" which has been taken as a defining phrase of his character by fans. During the Battle of the Blackwater he renounces the Kingsguard, and flees to Sansa's chambers, drunkenly offering to take her away to King's Landing, which she refuses. He also demands a song from her at knifepoint.
