Sadfic is fanfiction that intentionally deals with tragic themes or situations. Some sadfics are outright tragedies, but some stories labeled sadfic may include a hopeful ending, providing some relief to the reader. These fics are generally known for inspiring strong emotions in their readers. Often, sadfics feature tropes like whump or character death. Their plots can be triggering for some fans, but, unfortunately, not all works in this category are always appropriately tagged.
