SAO Abridged is an abridged series and parody of the anime adaption of Sword Art Online.

The series more or less follows the plot of the original show, with less condensing than many abridged series (the Aincrad arc, which was 14 episodes in the original show, was condensed into eleven videos which range from 8 minutes to 36 minutes in length.
The Abridged series added references to many Western media properties, such as Scanners. The second episodes began with a parody of Bastion's opening narration.
Reception
The reception of SAO Abridged is generally much more favorable than that to the original anime it parodies. [1]
A FRIEND OF MINE STARTED SHOWING IT TO ME RECENTLY, AND IT HAD ME IN STITCHES.And most impressively, they don’t change the plot at all. They only change the personalities. Making it a COMPLETELY watchable and loyal adaptation of SAO.
LOVE SAO ABRIDGED.
If this sounds hilari-bad but you don’t want to invest the time to watch a show which is objectively garbage, it has an abridged series which is famously better than the show it’s parodying (i’m dead serious, people have character arcs, the getting married after one date thing is properly addressed, the mc has to deal with PTSD because of all his friends dying in epsidode 3, they don’t immediately follow the death of a child with an extended fishing montage, the villain has an actual plan). It’s mostly actually pretty good, but this is the internet and it’s an abridged series, so while there are a lot fewer yikes moments than most it still has enough that I’m not comfortable recommending it without the caveat. that said I still enjoyed it a lot, although possibly not at much as pointing and laughing at the garbage that is the actual show.jupitermelichios [3]
