Controversy
There is some degree of controversy around this pairing due to the ages of the characters involved. Some are not comfortable shipping Oscar because he is young compared to the rest of the main cast, but this is usually specifically an aversion to sexual works involving a very underaged character and not the relationship dynamic. Miles Luna commented on this in a Q&A, not confirming whether or not the pairing is canon, but saying that if they got together, it would be an age-appropriate relationship. Some are not comfortable with the minor Age Difference of Oscar and Ruby - this is usually because people feel an age difference matters more when people are very young. Because of these concerns, Rosegarden fans often focus on the small ways in which it is clear Oscar is growing up, such as him getting taller as time passes. There is also concern over the fact that Oscar is hosting the soul and consciousness of Ozpin, who is thousands of years old and was Ruby's headmaster. This issue also seems to be one that will be solved as Oscar and Ozpin's personalities and consciousnesses are expected to become one over time.
