Romulan Encounter is a 1971 Star Trek: TOS three-act play.
Its creator was L.E. Wallace, Jr. and it was staged at The Denham Springs Community Theatre in Louisiana, US.
Wallace's first Star Trek play was called Star Date 3113.7. From Star Trek Lives! (which gets the title wrong!):
It [Stardate 7113.7] was followed by Romulan Encounter, which continued the first play's innovative combination of stage and film techniques, using previously prepared film as if it were the main view-screen on the bridge stage set.
Roddenberry's Approval
The play was produced with the knowledge and approval of Gene Roddenberry. L.E. Wallace was inspired after reading a letter from Roddenberry in the fanzine T-Negative #11 in which Roddenberry gave open approval of such events if staged by a community theater. This program from the event has portrait photos of all of the actors in the production as well as two staged photos in the back of some of the actors in Star Trek uniforms.
