Rockingjay is a term used to describe fan songs related to The Hunger Games. Rockingjay appears to have been connected to/inspired by the genre of wizard rock.[1] However. Rockingjay was never as widespread or as popular as the former and is generally not well-known/remembered in fannish circles.
The term may have been coined in June of 2011 on episode 10 of the podcast The Hunger Games Fireside Chat.[2] [3] An alternate term for the genre is Tribute Rock.[4]
The Hunger Games fansite Down With The Capitol had a page dedicated to Rockingjay in 2012 and 2013.[5]
Rockingjay appears to have been limited to the heyday of The Hunger Games fandom in the early 2010s.
