Robert E. Wood is the author, co-author or editor of nine books focused on the subjects of theatrical memoir and theatrical history, many related to actor and director Barry Morse. These include Valiant for Truth, The Wit & Wisdom of Barry Morse, Remember with Advantages, Such Stuff as Dreams..., Presenting Barry Morse & Merely Players, and Stories of the Theatre.

There are two out-of-print titles: Anecdotes & Armadillos and Pulling Faces, Making Noises.

His books on cult film and television include the fan favorite Destination: Moonbase Alpha - The Unofficial and Unauthorised Guide to Space: 1999 in 2010, and To Everything That Might Have Been: The Lost Universe Of Space: 1999 in 2022, both released by Telos Publishing.

Maybe There: The Lost Stories from Space: 1999, co-authored with David Hirsch was published in 2022 by Anderson Entertainment.

Wood is a convention organizer and has been a staffer at numerous fan gatherings.

He chaired Another Con, Another Place (Space: 1999 convention) in 2008, a relax-a-con in Calgary, Alberta, Canada, with telephone guests Zienia Merton, Prentis Hancock, and Nick Tate.

Fan Film

Wood and actor Barry Morse scripted the short film The Return of Victor Bergman, an eight-minute independent fan-production. It featured a new performance by Morse in a return to his role of 'Professor Victor Bergman', and clips (including Morse and various other actors) from the Space:1999 television series. Directed by Robert E. Wood and produced by Anthony Wynn, it debuted at the Journey to Where convention Austin, Texas in 2010. The film was also screened publicly at the Alpha: 2012 convention in Burbank, California. It has been dubbed the "50th episode" by fans of the show.

Fan Fiction and Art

Wood wrote Space: 1999 fan fiction for several zines, including two issues of Whispers in the Grove, and the standalone stories A Shine on the Mind and A Myriad of Wars. He also provided artwork for Moonbase Memoirs and the cover art for Everything Yet To Be.
