Resonant Waves is a for-profit fanzine centered on the ship Childe/Zhongli from Genshin Impact - specifically the Top Childe/Tartali dynamic.

The interest check for this project ran from March 8-20, 2021. Contributor applications ran from March 21, 2021 to April 15, 2021.

During the creation period of the zine, several promotions/giveaways occurred: a print giveaway, a merch giveaway, an art request giveaway, and a campaign to get a coupon from one of the zine's manufacturers. There was also a full bundle giveaway encouraging users to report a Twitter account that had been stolen from one of the contributors, Mizururu.

Preorders opened on August 27, 2021 with a scheduled end date October 9, 2021, and later was extended to October 14, 2021. The following pricing tiers were offered:

• Digital Bundle ($16 USD): PDF + MP3 + Sheet Music
• Physical Zine ($28 USD): Physical Zine
• Half Bundle ($59 USD): Physical Zine + Prints + Sticker Sheets + Candy Shaker Charm + Enamel Pin
• Full Bundle ($90 USD): Physical Zine + Prints + Sticker Sheets + Candy Shaker Charm + Enamel Pin + Acrylic Charms + Lanyard + Washi Tape + Pouch + Tote Bag + Digital Bundle

Digital Bundle add-ons were available for the Physical Zine and Half Bundle tiers for $7 USD. The zine's Bigcartel storefront also offered their NSFW digital side zine "Raging Tides" (not to be confused with the Childe-centric zine Raging Tide) for $12.50, and "Xiansheng's Butt" and "Jiejie's Booba" mousepads for $30 each. Merch was also available in small sets for separate preorder.

The prints available in the bundles were announced changed on October 5, 2021, and some free stickers were added to physical bundles as an apology - one for physical/half bundles and three for full bundles.

The zine had an early bird promotion of shikishi boards and printed boxes while supplies lasted. The shikishi boards were also the subject of three giveaways during the preorder period. A full bundle giveaway also occurred during preorders.

Five stretch goals were included in the project: a gold foil washi tape upgrade, a lollipop charm, shimmer/holo print upgrades, a standee, and gold foil for the zine cover. All five goals were unlocked by October 4, 2021.

The zine did two merch collaborations with other Genshin Impact fan projects. For the first, anyone making orders that included the physical zine from both Resonant Waves and Gentlemen of Teyvat, a zine focused on the male characters of the game, would get two free connected prints of Childe and Zhongli. For the second, anyone with half and full bundle orders from Resonant Waves would get two exclusive Childe and Zhongli cards from the Genshin Tarot card game, and would get a free four-piece Childe and Zhongli standee if also ordering Genshin Tarot.

Zine mods were in attendance at Anime NYC (November 19–21, 2021), selling some of the zine's merch.

An update about production delays for the zine books was made on January 20, 2022. Another update was given May 19, 2022 about the zines needing reprinting due to issues with the cover. The books were ultimately received by June 13, 2022. An update from October 23, 2022 said there were 150+ orders left to ship, and the final announcement that all packages had been shipped was made December 14, 2022.

No leftover sales have happened yet as of January 12, 2023, but they are planned.
