Renkaza is a Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba slash non-canon enemies to lovers pairing consisting of high-ranked Demon Slayer Rengoku Kyoujurou and demon Akaza.
Canon
Rengoku and Akaza only interact in canon once, as depicted in chapters 62-65 of the manga and the movie Mugen Train. After the Mugen Train has been stopped, Akaza attacks the heroes. After Akaza attacks Tanjiro and Rengoku saves him, Akaza becomes impressed with his battle prowess and asks if he would like to become a demon. Rengoku says no, and the two fight. During the fight, Akaza persistently asks Rengoku to take him up on his offer, saying that his fighting prowess is too good to lose. Rengoku denies the offer again, and explains that part of the beauty of humanity is the fact that they grow old and die. The two fight, with Akaza only becoming more impressed with Rengoku's fighting skills as the battle goes on, with Akaza continuing to repeat his offer. In the end, while Rengoku is almost able to get the upper hand. Akaza ends up killing him and escapes.
Fanon
It is popular among Renkaza shippers to interpret Akaza's desire for Rengoku to become a demon as a romantic attraction[1], especially due to Akaza's conflicted feelings over Rengoku's death.[2]
In Renkaza fanfiction, Canon Divergence AU and Modern AU are common subjects, with the former being the fourth most used Additional Tag on Archive of Our Own and the latter being the first most used. AUs in which Rengoku lives are also very popular. This is largely because of the canonically tragic end of the pairing in canon, which has one dying at the hands of the other.
