RESTORE, REMAKE, & REBUILD, sometimes abbreviated as RRR or RR&R, is an ongoing, epic-length Star Trek: Deep Space Nine fanfiction by kaelio. The primary romantic relationship is between Elim Garak and Julian Bashir, but the story is an ensemble, featuring segments with many characters and a significant subplot focused on Kira Nerys. The story also features a relationship between Elim Garak and Kelas Parmak and a gen focus several significant Cardassian original characters.
As of August 9, 2022, the work has 621 kudos and 120 bookmarks on Archive of Our Own. The story is generally well-received and has been recced across multiple sites. Kaelio is also a fan artist and has included some of her fanart for the story in the second chapter.[1] Another fanartists on Tumblr have also drawn art based on the story.[2][3]
About
The story itself incorporates in some elements from the beta-canon novel, A Stitch in Time. A Stitch in Time is a tie-in novel written as a letter to Julian Bashir from Elim Garak; kaelio interprets the story as another one of Garak's typical lies, and uses some elements but not all. Notably, kaelio's characterization of Kelas Parmak differs from both the novel and popular fanon.

"Eight years after the Dominion War, Dr. Bashir--rather afflicted, unfortunately--is en route to Cardassia Prime. Meanwhile, Garak has re-established himself as a politician of note, and his methods may be the source of more than a little friction. Furthermore, Garak's comrade-in-arms from the Cardassian Rebellion, Kira Nerys, is seeking to define a correct path for the tumultuous planet of Bajor. Ezri Dax, conversely, is struggling with her role in the Federation. The O'Briens are the two people suffering the least, and let me be the first to say, good for them. [...] Features an absolutely staggering amount of politicking, as well as periodic descriptions of alien ecology. Definitely a ensemble fic. You liked Martok, I hope?"[4]
