Pulp fiction refers to a broad variety of cheaply-printed literature, particularly fiction magazines and erotic novels, published between the 1890s to as late as the 1980s. They are known for being primarily of exploitation genres, but many respected science fiction authors also published pulp.

Many pulp publications feature paintings on their covers. Some, such as I Prefer Girls, have inspired fannish redraw trends.
