Potter Sandwich was a Harry Potter community on LiveJournal for Hermione/Harry/Ron fanworks. Created in 2002, it was one of the first communities for the ship.
In a discussion about his motivation for creating the community, founder vuurvasthouden commented:
Also, if you knew anything about the Harry Potter Fandom you would realize that the pottersandwich community was most likely created in frustration against the Ron/Hermione shippers and Harry/Hermione shippers that vehemetly argue daily.Your defense is most appreciated. ::clears throat:: It's no secret that I hate Sugar Quillers (Ron/Hermione maniacs). I'm H/Hr. But I do have a soft spot for Ron
despite his oh-so-completely-unflinching-loyalty-to-Harry*coughGobletofFirecough*, and I don't know why, but the idea of pottersandwich is that both Ron and Hermione want Harry (it's more of a Ron/Harry slashiness, rather than the "straight man and his buddy banging the chick of their dreams"-type thing); kind of like a thing where the three of them just "feels right" to them. Well, that's my idea, and I feel it actually works in a way that doesn't irk me (Ron/Hermione irks me, but Ron and Hermione sharing Harry and Ron and Harry sharing Hermione ALL at the same time, doesn't). I'm sure there's at least one guy out there who's got the straight man and his buddy fantasy going on, though.[1]
