I didn't really read much Star Trek: TOS fanfiction for a long time simply because most of what I'd seen was Kirk/Spock and, well, surprisingly that just wasn't an interest for me. Then I stumbled across Djinn's fic on a mailing list and found myself utterly flabbergasted by the idea that she wrote Kirk/Chapel. The idea surprised the hell out of me. Christine Chapel and James T. Kirk?!Then I read it.
If there was ever a writer who could convert me to a pairing, it is probably Djinn. She writes a Christine Chapel who is more than a beehive hairdo, great set of legs, and the Crush On Spock. She also writes a Jim Kirk who's compelling, human, and more than just "James -- T -- Kirk", Captain and Manwhore. They're real people with a real connection. The writing's great, the humor perfectly TOS and the whole thing? (all of her fic really) is a damn good treat.
Sex isn't bad either. *G* [2]
