Pen and Pencil is a 45-page Star Wars (includes two Star Trek: TOS portraits) zine.
It was first in a proposed series of zines though it is likely there was only one issue.
From an ad in Universal Translator #23: "The opening round contains a 9 pages portfolio of beautifully printed full-page artwork by Sue and Shayne (primarily Sue), and a longish story, 'Alliances,' SW, post-Jedi."
The single piece of fiction, "Alliances," was reprinted ten years later in Bright Center of the Universe #4.
From Shayne and Sue
From Shayne's editorial:
"Alliances" caused me more frustrating moments than just about anything else I've written, mainly because I had an idea that looked good, but it kept mutating before I could get it down; the original idea is quite different from the finished product. Also, I pushed myself more with it than usual... tried to work it out to it's fullest advantage. I think it came out ok.... Please do write and tell us what you think of our effort... it is only by such letters that editors/authors/artists know how well they have done from the point of view of you, the purchaser. Constructive advice is always welcome. Anyone who writes a comprehensive interesting letter that is printable, will have 50% deducted from the price of the next issue (should we get that far...).
From Sue:
Hullo. This is my first editorial and the first magazine I've collaborated on. Reasons: a) To make money b) for the fun of doing it and besides I had all these drawings and nowhere to put them.... Fly casual!

Tommy; while Ford portrayed "Tommy" in Frisco Kid, this illo does not seem to portray that character
