Author's Summary: Short and dark and pretty damn hopeless.

Author's Note

This is my first Sentinel fic. I apologize in advance for any foibles. Basically, as I've come to understand it, I'm scouting around for new people to hurt. Don't take it personally.

Reactions and Reviews

Blair and Jim come home dirty and tired from a hard day - and it happens again. And Blair knows he will pay for any pleasure he receives again and again--in a terrible silence that has become increasingly hard to bear... This was Aristide's first Sentinel story and her talent shows clearly in her language and the depth of emotion that she manages to produce in this rather dark story. It's told, rather unusually for Aristide, from Blair's POV, and his bleak desperation comes shining through the text. I loved this story, despite the way it broke my heart. For me, this is the flip-side of Jim's POV in "Shadows And Light" - although this one is all shadow.[1]

Darkfic Rating: Espresso.

I have a Thing for repressed Jim stories, but this one goes beyond repression into pathology. [2]

Best FF That Explains Why It's Better to Talk: Paying Silence, by Mairead Triste. The Sentinel, Jim/Blair. In this one, Blair can't find the words, and he pays for it over and over. Not one of the happy stories so common in this fandom.[3]
