Oxygen Destroyer was an anime fanzine that began in 1991.
About
Oxygen Destroyer was designed by Scott Weikert using his Mac Classic and one of those little handheld scanners that you had to pull across the image. Man, was I opinionated! I got an irate letter from an Animecon rep after I wrote in a later issue about how the Red Lion Inn was charging people $25 to hook VCRs up to the TVs. Animecon had its own color stationery letterhead, BTW. Too bad they only did one convention.
Reviews
This little 5 1/2" x 8 1/2" folded zine is filled with such variety in 31 pages it was amazing. They say they report on anime activities in the Southeast, but there's plenty for the rest of us to enjoy. The first issue had a review of Akira in English, articles about the Lensman movie versus the original Lensman books and the Australian Ultraman collaboration, a Gundam book review, a fan fic piece on the legendary Star Dipwads, as well as news and classifieds.

The convention reports and the review of Protoculture Addicts' now infamous Anime Shower Special were amusing reading. These reviewers speak their mind and show respect to no one!Lorraine Savage reviewing issue 1 in The Rose, issue 26
