One Possibility is a K/S story by Marilyn Lansford, a pseud for Della Van Hise.
It was published in the print zine Naked Times #23.
One of the reviews below illustrates, at least in this instance, how a pseud may have influenced her opinion. The reviewer may altered her opinion if she'd known that Lansford wasn't a "new" author, but in fact, a seasoned BNF. The reviewer may have altered her criticism of the telepathy focus if she'd known that it was written by a recognized fannish expert on that topic.
Summary
"After Kirk enters a talent contest with Uhura, Spock thinks they are romantically involved and is unable to control the hurt and jealousy he feels, unaware that Kirk is in love with him and is using women to try and control it."
Reactions and Reviews
1989
There is some nice imagery in this story. Kirk's dance with Uhura is erotic and well-presented. The relationship between Kirk and Uhura is well handled and believable. [1]
1990
I do have a twinge of doubt about Kirk doing the dance with Uhura - it doesn't fit his "command image" at all. Other than that, it's a very enjoyable, believable story. Spock's obsessive jealousy of Uhura was done well. (Though Kirk's not naive, he should've realized what it was.) I enjoyed how Kirk's "usual" way of seduction backfired when used on Spock - his forgetting that Spock's a touch telepath. (I forget that sometimes, too!) [2]
1998
This was a new author, I think, who did a superb job on an oft-explored theme of misunderstanding and reluctance of Kirk and Spock to reveal their love for each other. This time Spock is reluctant because of the attention Kirk is paying to Uhura, And we get to see a bit more of Uhura than usual and that's very well done. Of course, the opening scene is enough to keep your blood churning through the next 20 or so pages. Kirk and Uhura have entered a dance contest and do an absolutely riveting and extremely sensual flamenco — with Kirk in a black body stocking that he describes as not being big enough for a 10 year old!! When McCoy the following day mentions that Kirk wasn't eating before the contest. Kirk replies, "Bones, you saw that costume. Would you have eaten?" Wow, what a mental picture!
I felt a bit of discontinuity (easy stuff to come by) as in one very tense scene, Spock is described as having "read" Kirk through his touch, yet he manages to completely misunderstand what Kirk is trying to tell him in words. If the touch telepath angle hadn't been mentioned, it would have been no problem. But I'll tell you, she makes up for this in spades with page after page of some of the sweetest, most languorous loving I've read in a long time. I'll forgive all kinds of technical transgression for that! [3]
