OT5 was used in the Prince of Tennis fandom to designate works with a polyamorous relationship between Atobe Keigo, Echizen Ryoma, Fuji Syusuke, Sanada Genichiroh and Tezuka Kunimitsu, or works containing several combinations of said characters. Japanese fandom has less enthusiasm for polyamorous relationships, and the OT5 term is not in use there.

Works labeled as OT5 may not contain a polyamorous relationship or even all five characters, but are understood to take place under the OT5 umbrella, with a tolerance for all combinations of the five. By 2010 the interest in OT5 seems to have died down,[1] but cracked_princes, a LiveJournal community created in 2005 for the OT5, received nearly 4,000 comments over the years it was active, and several communities on FanFiction.Net preserve fics labeled with OT5.

Canon

While the characters don't have much interaction as a group of five, all of them are popular and widely shipped with one another, leading to early English fandom inventing the OT5 and subsequently creating more works centered around it.
