ORAC (O*R*A*C) initially was a fan-run fan club based in Dallas, Texas and founded in 1987 for the BBC sci-fi television Blake's 7 and has, after 1994, branched out to be a fan organization covering all types of science fiction/fantasy literature, art, music, and media fandom.

Dues included a copy of the club newsletter Tarriel Cell.

ORAC helped start FenCon, a general interest Science Fiction/Fantasy convention in Dallas.

Club Title

ORAC stood for "Organized Response to Avon's Call."

Proposed Zine

Beginning in 1991, the club attempted to launch a Blake's 7 zine titled "Transzendence". Despite submission requests over several years, this endeavor was not successful. From a submission request in Aspects v.3 n.4:

ORAC, the North Texas Blake's 7 fan club, is finally taking the fanzine plunge! Now seeking stories, artwork, poetry and filks for printed and possible audio versions of fanzine. No slash or adult material, please.
