Nieyao is the slash ship between Nie Mingjue and Jin Guangyao, also known as Meng Yao or Lianfang-zun from the Mo Dao Zu Shi novel and adaptations.

Canon
Although their story together has variations depending on the version, Meng Yao and Nie Mingjue start off as allies, but during the Sunshot Campaign against the Wen Clan, their bond breaks. Even though after the victory they become sworn brothers, Nie Mngjue never fully trusts Jin Guangyao again and he's just trying to keep an eye on him. Their relationship deteriorates further after the Jin clan refuses to execute Xue Yang and after a heated argument, Nie Mingjue pushes Jin Guangyao down the stairs of the Golden Carp Tower, calling him son of a whore and trying to kill him, considering him beyond redemption. It's after that moment when Jin Guangyao decides to kill him, altering the Song of Clarity with some fragments he learned reading Collection of Turmoil in the Cloud Recesses forbidden library and accelerating his death by qi deviation. After his death, Jin Guangyao steals his corpse, dismembers it and scatters the fragments in different locations, keeping the head inside his secret chamber.
He's eventually killed by Nie Mingjue's reassembled fierce corpse, and the two of them are buried in the same coffin.
