Jin Guangyao (金光瑶) is an antagonist in the novel Mo Dao Zu Shi and its adaptations. Jin Guangyao, originally born as Meng Yao, was the child of Meng Shi, who worked as a prostitute, and Jin Guangshan, the leader of a prominent clan in the cultivating world. He is described as an individual possessing exceptional intelligence and cunning, as well as being humble, likable and kind. Following the passing of his mother, Meng Yao faces rejection from the Jin clan's territories. In his pursuit of acknowledgment and acceptance, he becomes involved in a series of disturbing crimes which help him climbing to the top, some of which are motivated by personal grievances against individuals who had previously harmed him.
