Reactions and Reviews
1996
Slightly weird, but fascinating in an off-beat sort of way, this story has Kirk and Spock being examined and tested by an alien of superior powers who doesn't quite get the concept of sex and love and sex and friendship and sex—stuff like that. Driven by a need-to-know attitude, this pesky alien forces them to engage in lots of sex and fantasy. Darn that alien, anyhow. So it's a dirty job, but someone has to do it and they sure do it. My favorite bit was the use of butter as a lubricant that Kirk conveniently finds on the dinner table. My next favorite (after some terrific sex, of course) was when the alien put them back on the Enterprise and no one realized they had been gone. Actually a delightfully fun story. Still slightly weird. [1]
