Necessities is a gen 209-page Blake's 7 novel by Susan Rotellini and edited by Marjorie McKenna.
The art is by TACS, Pat Cash, Suzie Molnar, Mary Robertson and Susan Williams.
It has a prequel, Reclaimed. There was supposed to be a third novel in the series, "Confrontation," but it was never published.
Regarding the cover: Judith Proctor's site says that the front cover is TACS, though notes "not on my copy) [1] The title page and editorial of the zine says the front cover artist is Susan Foley, and this is also the signature on the art itself. However, there appears to be another version of this zine out there with a cover that has no art, one that may be a custom zine.
From the Editorial
Well, here I am again, writing an opening statement for a second novel. Although I deliberately left some ends loose In RECLAIMED, I would not have written another novel if it were not for you, the readers, the fans of Blake's 7.I greatly appreciate the letters I received, and the word-of-mouth publicity. My "Limited Run" has far exceeded my expectations. However, I hope that some of you will not be too disappointed when you find that your suggestions did not make it into this story. (Some things just cannot be fixed.) RECLAIMED was a basic adventure story, but NECESSITIES was designed as a mystery-adventure. I hope that you will find some suspense somewhere within these pages. (Translation: Don't read the end first! NECESSITIES Is the second novel of a trilogy. Unfortunately many second novels are not as good as the first one has turned out to be. Hopefully, you will not find that to be your opinion of this one. The last of the three novels, CONFRONTATIONS, will be out within the next year and a half. (Remember: It takes time to write them.) As you will notice on the title page, I have a new editor: Marjorie McKenna, whom I wish to thank for all her help. Many of you may be familiar with Marjorie, as she has edited many stories and zines in other fandoms. However, this is the first Blake's 7 story which she has edited, and she graciously agreed to edit NECESSITIES after my original editor, Edi Bjorklund, became ill. Marjorie once commented that the manuscript seemed to arrive already edited. If that Is true. It is due to what I learned from Edi.
Also, I want to thank all the artists for their work which appears In NECESSITIES: Pat Cash, Suzie Molnar, Mary Robertson, Susan Williams, and Sheila Willis. Their portraits include several of the series' characters, as well as some of my own. Finally, I have one last thank you to Sheila Foley for her lovely cover.
