sorry i know this fic is from like three years ago but i’m reading it now and i always try to comment. anyway i love the characterization of crutchie (a lot of people write him as not being able to stand up for himself and you Definitely didn’t do that), spot is amazing and very in character and i love davey and race too!

I've gotta tell you — I binge-read this whole thing in a single weekend. Your writing is incredible! I found it only because I came across a fanart of Jack, Davey, and the snake, and about the fourth or fifth time I saw it I realized there was an actual fic out there that it was based on, and I just had to check it out. I'm so glad I finally did; your skill with descriptions cured my depression and cleared my skin. I never went to summer camps as a kid, but there was a long-weekend-in-the-middle-of-October kind-of-like-a-cabin-y-summer-camp-thing I used to do in high school that I could imagine while reading this, and based on an oddly cross-hatched knowledge base of that combined with your writing I could almost pretend I knew what going to summer camp was like! Definitely such a feel-good fic I will absolutely keep and come back to. I desperately love this version of these boys (and gals).

I love this, all of it, okay. Like, the past three days I've been reading it between college classes and I just can't get enough. I love, love, love your writing. It's feels so natural and the boys are so well characterised, especially Spot. I love how you're writing him, it is so. good. Oh my god. And jack and david are so well-fitted in this story and their relationship grows so naturally and at such a good pacing. And with a trans family member, I think you're handling Crutchie really good up until now. I'm just over-all thrilled by all this and I so hope you finish it! It's so great and I enjoy it so much. Thank you for taking the time to write all of this, you're such a good writer especially when it comes to writing events and plot (does this make sense? I hope so) and this story is so captivating. that was fantastic, thank you so much! this is seriously the best fic i've read in a while—and i manage to read a lot—and i just couldn't stop, i even showed up late for a coffee date simply because i wanted to keep reading this. the part where kath comments on jack having kissed everyone at the table was brilliant, including their reactions, since, speaking from personal experience, people react that way EXACTLY. i loved spot and race, and just your entire characterisation of spot, because i can imagine it's quite hard to write him well without falling into clichés or making him less of the badass he is. and in general, honestly, all the characters were so well developed, you played around with the original storyline amazingly by still managing to surprise, and i do not have a lot of agency to say anything about your trans story line, but i personally thought it was brilliantly developed and incredibly authentic! a lot of props to you for making it so genuine and natural

I recently got back into the Newsies fandom with the release of the musical on Netflix (definitely have not watched it 5 times already...nope...) I stumbled onto your fic and loved it so much! I miss the camp I went to. Unfortunately never worked there but I relate to how much they love the camp. The translation of the story into a camp setting worked perfectly. I love how you wrote all of the characters. Spot and Race are wonderful and I love how you built up their relationship (no homo). I love Jack and David (ahh my loves) and how they grew over the summer. I also love how you included the other Newsies. Crutchie is simply amazing. And Specs, Romeo, Mush, Blink- literally everyone was wonderful! There was always so much happening in your story but I was never confused nor did it feel rushed. You are a brilliant writer! I don't even know where to begin. I've been reading this whenever I have free time for the last week and it honestly was one of th best parts of my day. "I wonder if I read some of that newsies summer camp AU before I go to bed...". This story is so lovely. You were genuine and nuanced in your approach to sexuality, gender, and love. All the characters were so distinct and perfectly adapted from the musical/movie into this modern story. Davey and Jack in particular were just fantastic—they had such great chemistry from the beginning that built up even more until the party, which was so satisfying! Race and Spot too, so good! Overall, this is one of the best fics I've read in a long time, for any fandom. I really enjoyed it. Thank you so much for writing it and sharing!
